Behind the Lyrics of Kidscope

Over the next couple days we are posting the meaning to all of kidscope’s songs! BUT TODAY IS MATT’S BIRTHDAY SO HAPPY BIRTHDAY KIDSCOPE/MATT!

We like to Drink: This song is for my boys and my girls; represent. In all honesty, the youth today isn’t perfect and sometimes we just want to have a good and crazy time. When I first put out my music I knew that I wanted to have 3 songs out, and I knew I had to make this idea of We Like To Drink a reality. My friends and I like to party and we like to dance, and there’s always certain songs that come on the stereo that just make us freak out and have an even greater time. I wanted to make a song that did that but brought it to the next level. I spent a lot of time on this track before I had the lyrics for it, and I felt as if the hook was catchy and that the style was a little “silly”. So I said to myself, “What the hell, I’m going to make a ridiculous drinking song for me, my friends, and everyone else who feels the way we do.” I love this song. It’s not as serious of a song when you compare it to my others, but it’s the most fun song I’ve written. The week I put it out, my inbox was filled with messages and my phone was loaded with texts from people who were saying “Matt I’m partying to that song right now!” That makes me feel awesome.

What do you think a girl looks most beautiful wearing?

A nice summer dress.

What is the perfect first date?

I’d say a visit to a cafe together. Nothing too serious at first, so you could get to know each other and plan something around both of your interests for the 2nd date.

Name three essential qualities in a mate?

Trust, positive attitude, good looks/being in good health

How soon is too soon?

I think the answer to this question depends on the people. But if it’s too soon… you’ll know

Most important physical qualities?

Hair, eyes, smile, and I love a girl who keeps up on staying athletic.

What is your biggest relationship pet peeve?

When girls constantly text message mid conversation.

What should girls know about guys that they constantly forget?

That we’re not like every other guy even if you think so.

When did you have your first kiss?

At a YMCA Summer camp when I was like 12?

Are you looking for love at this point in time?
Single and loving it.

Matt Kolb gives us the low down on what is hot and not this season and what the biggest upcoming trends are in his eyes.  Make sure you also listen to more of his awesome songs at www.myspace.com/kidscope

What are your favorite stores to shop at? For clothes I like to shop at the mall in stores like Lids, Matix, Pac Sun, American Eagle, Hollister, Banana Republic, Old Navy, Gap, and Athlete’s Foot for my athletic attire. I buy my boxers at K Mart.

Who are your style icons? I don’t really have any icons for style, but I give props to Kanye for always be up to par on his designer outfits.
Favorite color to wear? White for the tops, blue for the bottoms.

Hot or Not?

Men’s scarfs
- Not for me

neon colors- As long as you don’t over do it, but in general, not hot.

facial piercing and/or tattoos- Hell Yeah. I’ve had my lip ring for a few years and just got my first tattoo last Summer.

skinny jeans - If you’re not heavy than sure. I have a few pairs in the back of my drawers.

gel hair- I do

speedos- Nope

waxing- Sure

What would you most likely wear on a first date? If it was a date to dinner I’d wear a nice long sleeve button shirt and some nice slacks. But if it were outside of the dinner scene I would probably dress according to the weather, and maybe wear a little Diesel cologne.

To a preformance? My New Era hat, shades, blue jeans, converse, a hoody.

What is the hottest new trend this spring? I know it’s been out but I’ve seen a huge increase in popularity for the V-neck shirt. That along with mass ammounts of neon colors. But this whole v neck thing isn’t for me.

Britney Say What?!

Britney Spears made a very….um, special announcement at her Tampa, Flordia show, last night. After her “Slave 4 U” set, the lights dimmed, and the pop princess let her fans know that her “baby maker” was hanging out. (Wait….Why was her mic even on?)

Word of advice, Brit….if your baby maker is hanging out, it’s probably time for a new outfit….or maybe just some pants. Just lookin’ out for ya!

“All I Ever Wanted” (Album Review)

My Picks: Don’t Let Me Stop You, If I Can’t Have You, Long Shot, Impossible

The original American Idol queen is back and she is hotter than ever! Kelly Clarkson’s fourth studio album, “All I Ever Wanted” is a fine example of what Clarkson does best….edgy, pop rock! Some doubted Kelly’s appeal after her slightly darker toned album, “My December,” but this “comeback” album is the deciding factor that will prove all the nay-sayers wrong! Kelly returns to her pop rock roots and doesn’t disappoint. Welcome back, Kelly! We’ve missed you!

My Life Would Suck Without You: The lead single off the album, “My Life Would Suck Without You,” can be considered “Since U Been Gone, Part: 2.” This is the infectiously catchy, pop-rock track you can’t help but sing along to. Produced by Max Martin, this is the song, that broke records ands made the giant leap to snab the number one spot on iTunes.

I Do Not Hook Up:Written by Katy Perry and new American Idol judge, Kara Dioguardi, this is the second single off the album and is looking like another hit for Clarkson. “I Do Not Hook Up” combines a catchy chorus with a rock beat, that you can’t help but rock out to.

If I Can’t Have You: What do you get when you combine classic, pop rock with techno beats? One of the best uptempo tracks on the album! “If I Can’t Have You” is one of Kelly’s best songs of her career and is one of the many standout tracks on “All I Ever Wanted,” because of it’s versatility. Kelly sings, “You Can Break These Rules, If You Wanna Have Some Fun,” and that is exactly what she did with “If I Can’t Have You!”

Long Shot: Starting off with hypntoic violins, Kelly shifts into another dark pop rock track about a relationship that may or may not be. This is hands down one of my favorite tracks on the album and goes along perfectly with Kelly’s one of a kind vocals. (Single number three, anyone?)

The Verdict: This album is pop-rock perfection. My words can’t do it justice. Kelly reminds us why she won our hearts in the first place, with this amazing album. You can buy it HERE. Trust me, this is an album you want in your collection!
